Branding, design and strategy for a local barbershop.
Pgh Barber Co presented a unique challenge: it had no digital footprint. The shop had no logo, brand guidelines, or website, which meant building its online presence entirely from scratch. My first task was to create a logo and style kit that could be used for any future promotional materials.
Additionally, the shop used The Cut, a third-party application, as its primary booking system. The website needed to integrate with The Cut by directing users to the app while maintaining a seamless experience.

As a proud local business, Pgh Barber Co draws much of its identity from its love for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The shop’s warm, rustic interior is adorned with Steelers paraphernalia, making this theme a natural fit for the brand. I designed the logo using bold, confident fonts paired with classic barbershop icons. To reflect the shop’s personality and roots, I incorporated the Steelers’ iconic black and gold color palette, ensuring there was no mistaking this business’s Pittsburgh pride.
The website carried the branding forward, utilizing strong blacks and golds throughout for a cohesive look. The most intricate aspect of the project was the call-to-action for booking appointments. Since The Cut is the shop’s primary booking platform, they wanted to continue using it exclusively. To meet this need, I designed a custom button linking to The Cut. To manage user expectations, I incorporated clear messaging about the button’s function. The booking button was prominently featured in the navigation menu on both desktop and mobile versions of the site, ensuring it was always easy to access.
Choosing a barber often hinges on trust and visual proof of quality. To address this, I included a gallery of customer headshots, giving potential clients a glimpse of the shop’s craftsmanship and inspiring confidence to book an appointment.
As a business with a physical location, it was crucial to make key information easily accessible. I ensured the shop’s address and hours were prominently displayed in addition to a standard contact form. These elements help customers connect with the shop both online and in person.
Beyond the website, I helped Pgh Barber Co establish itself on essential digital platforms. I set up their presence on Google Search Console and Google Maps, correcting an outdated listing that inaccurately showed the shop as ‘permanently closed.’ These updates not only fixed a critical issue but also laid the groundwork for better visibility in local search results.
With its new website and branding, Pgh Barber Co now has a strong digital foundation to attract and engage clients. The improvements to its Google presence aim to enhance search rankings and drive traffic to the shop’s Google Business Profile. Paired with the seamless integration of The Cut, the site positions Pgh Barber Co to welcome new customers and strengthen its connection to the local community.
